The Chief - Diamond Frame

Heritage Bicycles

  • The Chief is Heritage’s first take on the classic diamond frame.

A strong bike demands a strong name, and “The Chief” conveys the fierce look of this classic diamond frame, while paying homage to Chicago’s roots. Before Chicago was a metropolis, it was a trading hub for many Native American nations, including the Pottawatomie, the Miami, the Illnois, the Chippewa, the Foxes, the Shawnee, and the Winnebago. Although urban legend has it that “Chicago,” translates to “smelly onion,” it is historically more likely that the word meant “great and powerful,” a sentiment we hope The Chief evokes in style and in use.

Like every Heritage Bicycle, The Chief is made by Chicagoans, loved by Chicagoans, and coveted by bicyclists everywhere.

Testimonials

Alan,

As you know, I was lucky enough to receive a Heritage Chief - Legacy Addition as a Christmas gift from my wife (see attached photo). My first impression was that this was the most beautiful bicycle I've ever seen. The lines of the bike gives it a sporty look. The ox blood red frame color and the natural leather saddle and grips are offset perfectly offset by the walnut and wenge fenders and the off-white tires.
But this bike is more then something pretty to look at. It is a bike to be ridden - everyday. The fit is perfect and a very comfortable ride. The quality of the components and construction is over the top. It is also surprisingly light to carry. I bring it up one flight of stairs to my apartment to store.
The one feature that I like the most is the 2-speed kickshift gearing. The gear ratios are perfect for riding around the streets of Chicago. It is very easy to become comfortable the shifting; a couple of times out on the bike and shifting becomes second nature.
It is such a joy to ride that since Christmas, I've ridden it to my office in the sub-freezing temperatures nearly everyday.
I look forward to ridding my Heritage Chief to and from work for a long time to come.
Look for me on Wells Street heading to and from the loop.
Jim
