Before Chicago was a metropolis, it was a trading hub for many Native American nations, including the Pottawatomie, the Miami, the Illnois, the Chippewa, the Foxes, the Shawnee, and the Winnebago. Although urban legend has it that “Chicago,” translates to “smelly onion,” it is historically more likely that the word meant “great and powerful,” a sentiment we hope The Chief evokes in style and in use.
